CKC offers our clients all aspects
of EMC design consultation. We provide our clients with unbiased compliance
design solutions and product recommendations. Our services are available
at any stage of the production cycle of your equipment. Ideally, EMC
considerations are incorporated early in the design process. If a product
has a proper EMC design, it will be assured of a quick, smooth (and
profitable) compliance process, bringing the unit to market without
losing time to retrofitting measures. There are two major components
to our design consultation services: Design Review and Pretest.
As we mentioned above, CKC recommends
that clients have our staff review their design prior to hardware commitment;
EMC issues should be addressed as soon as the definition of the clock
oscillators and basic packaging ideas have been explored. In doing so,
we can focus our engineering knowledge, experience and EMCad
software to make design recommendations for EMC. If complete information
is not available on your product at the time of our review, we will
be able to assume typical values based on our extensive empirical database.
The Design Review Report will then show all of the assumptions
made for each analysis performed. After the Design Review is complete,
we will discuss application, feasibility and trade-offs prior to production.
Pretest
The next step in EMC design consultation
will occur after a prototype model has been assembled. CKC then provides
you with valuable pre-testing services at one of our six locations.
If the unit passes or fails a given standard by a narrow margin, the
design will be reviewed and analyzed. Then, we will make final EMC design
recommendations that will ensure a compliant product.
If a product is found to have EMC design
problems in the prototype, pre-production or production stages, CKC
can perform retrofit modifications at the test site that will yield
a high probability of success. Each of our laboratories has an inventory
of retrofit devices such as EMI filters, RF gasketing materials, and
shielding materials to assist in the troubleshooting process. Even if
the EMC challenges are complex, involving design issues, each of our
locations is staffed with a consulting engineer capable of assisting
you to find the most feasible route to compliance. CKC's experience
with thousands of different products has resulted in efficient trouble
shooting methods that can save hours to months in resolving complex
design problems. Our goal in troubleshooting is to find and recommend
cost effective, accurate solutions.
