EMC Testing for Avionics Systems
CKC
Laboratories' DO 160 Testing Centers are located in Canyon Park,
Washington and Fremont, CA. CKC Canyon Park is home to 6 Aerospace EMC,
DO-160 test labs, equipped with state of the art susceptibility and
emissions test equipment. Included at our Canyon Park facility are a 36’
x 16’ x 11’ fully-anechoic room, a 17' x 24' x 10' semi-anechoic room, a
17' x 14' x 10' Semi-Anechoic room. CKC Canyon Park also offers,
lightning test labs for MS/MB lightning transient testing. Both of Canyon
Park’s semi-anechoic, DO 160 EMI test room feature attached, RF shielded
“ante” rooms for control/support equipment.
Our Fremont facility includes two chambers specially configured for
Avionics EMC testing. One chamber is a 32’x21’x10’, fully-anechoic room
and the other chamber is semi-anechoic room, 32’x21’x10. Specific
capabilities of our Military EMC test centers include: RTCA DO-160 D/E
with radiated susceptibility testing available in Canyon Park for
Section 20, 200 V/m, 10 kHz to 18 GHz (higher radiated fields at
specific frequencies and distances). Other capabilities include Boeing
D6-16050-2/3/4, Boeing D200Z001, NASA EMC requirements, and other
aerospace EMC requirements.
Also available are diagnostic testing for low level current injection
testing. Our Avionics and Aerospace EMC Test Centers also includes the
latest in computer assisted operation and data reduction.

Lightning Transient Testing
CKC’s Canyon Park EMC test center offers complete, multiple stroke, multiple burst lightning transient testing. Our equipment is the latest in automated, commercially available test sets, offered by EMC Partner of Switzerland. We thus offer aerospace manufactures a level of quality and repeatability in multi-stroke, multi-stroke testing that is without equal on the West Coast. Our capabilities include up to Level 5 requirements for DO-160E Section 22 as well as specific Boeing requirements.
Pin Injection, Cat A & B
CKC provides pin injection testing services on “devices with complex digital circuitry” both single stroke and MS-MB.
Cable Injection
-
Cat C, Single Stroke (SS) to Threat Level 5
-
Cat D, SS to Threat Level 5
-
Cat E, SS to Threat Level 5
-
Cat F, SS to Threat Level 5
-
Cat G, SS, Multiple Stroke (MS), Multiple Burst (MB) to Threat Level 3 (and threat level 4 if cables are 5 M in length or longer)
-
Cat H, SS, MS, MB to Threat Level 3 (and threat level 4 if cables are 5 M in length or longer)
-
Cat J, SS, MS, MB to Threat Level 3 (and threat level 4 if cables are 5 M in length or longer)
-
Cat K, SS, MS, MB to Threat Level 3 (and threat level 4 if cables are 5 M in length or longer)
Boeing Specific Requirements
CKC upgraded to our EMC Partner MS-MB Lightning Test System allowing us to offer services in accordance with the DO-160E Section 22 table 22-4 and the latest BOEING 787 lightning induced transient's requirements, as defined in D6-16050-5 Rev B, table 7.4-1. Specifically, CKC offers Multi-Stroke Lightning Induced Cable Injection services for waveforms 1, 4 and 5A up to threat level 4 (750V/2250A and above).
Test Reports
Avionics and Aerospace test reporting requires a very professional approach with careful attention to detail. These reports are more involved that most
"commercial" reports because they require a great deal of both emissions
and susceptibility testing. Also, the frequency range of concern is much broader and the amount of test equipment used much greater than most commercial testing.
